HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MY PIANO TUNED?

Have your piano tuned as often as you feel necessary some clients have it tuned 3 time a year, however, a bear minimum of once a year is recommended. MANUFACTURERS recommend twice a year because: when you turn on the heating in the winter, and when you turn it off in spring.. These are the times of year when big humidity change starts to shrink or swell the wooden structure of the piano, and it starts to drift out of tune. You have small changes of humidity all the time and this is what put a piano out of tune more than playing. So even if you don’t use your piano much you still should have it tuned once a year

WHAT THE MANUFACTURERS HAVE TO SAY:

Steinway & Sons

"...no matter how expertly a piano is tuned, atmospheric variations and the nature of the piano's construction constantly conspire to bring it off pitch"

Yamaha Pianos

"...a piano should be tuned at least twice a year."
" Complete piano service should include periodic regulation and voicing in addition to tuning."

Kemble Pianos

"...a piano should be tuned at least twice a year."

Bluthner Pianos

"Bluthner Pianos and most manufacturers agree that a piano should be tuned at least twice per year by a qualified piano tuner."
